Protecting the guitar body. It is very easy to slip with a file - no need risking scratching the guitar body. Notice that I use blue painters tape and not masking tape. Masking tape could damage the finish…although I experienced the blue painters tape removing a small piece of finsih from the neck. Something I was quite disappointed about...
