After performing simply maintenance on my guitars at home I realized some type of stand or holder or workstation would greatly help working on a guitar. The first one I built was similar to this one in that a guitar could rest flat or on its side. I covered that one in felt to protect the guitar's finish. I soon learned that a guitar would slide around on the felt. So for my second workstation I used rubber matting - the kind that is used for kitchen drawers. I also amended the layout of the neck brace, body V-support ledge and added a "backstop" for the guitar.

This workstation will allow me to work on electric or acoustic guitars. It will hold them flat or on their side. The V-support I built has an opening wide enough to slide an electric guitar body through - thus supporting the guitar on its side. Acoustic guitars have a much wide side width so do not necessarily require such support.

The workstation has worked quite well for almost all the work I needed to perform in building the Telecaster.
